Hey mes amis!!! Bienvenue to my holiday blog-post-mini-series, titled, "Making Spirits Bright," where we touch upon an array of unique ingredients, recipes & activities, that are often associated with the holiday season!
So, it's quite evident that these next several weeks are going to be a whirlwind, so I thought what better way to get ahead of the season's madness than by amping up your holiday arsenal of utter goodness via various kinds of cocktails, drinks, & cuisines, so that YOU may step into your role of party host or hostess with bells on! No pun intended but we'll totally take it. Up first, I thought we'd start off super simple with a quick spritz. Now, if your household is anything like mine, then they are extremely nosy and so you know thee UTTER struggle of sneaking Christmas gifts into the house....Finding a good hiding spot for said gifts...And, then wrapping the gifts to then place them under the tree all while evading your nosy family. Now with all the sprints, hurdles, & hiding, it can damn near feel like a marathon executing this mission. But once successfully completed, I believe that one is truly deserving of a quick & easy drink to fizz the season & take the edge off. So read on while I show you how to make what I call Santa's Sprinted Spritz.
Interestingly enough, growing up as an American in a Caribbean household often had me empathizing with my parents, as I can imagine the bouts of cultural shock they must've experienced with assimilating to a more westernized- American-based culture. And so, not only did I empathize with them, but I often times lived it...I mean on 1 hand my school teacher is referring to this guy named Santa Claus, yet on the other, my mom is referring to a man by the name of Papa Noel. Needless to say, the mystery was short-lived when I soon realized that they were all talking about the same man! Now this Santa Sprinted Spritz cocktail is also a great choice for those evenings where family & friends randomly stop by to shoot the breeze during the holiday season. It's something quick & easy, but festive enough so it seems as though you put some sort of an effort in presentation.
And of course I wasn't gonna leave ya hanging with the food. When you're wayyy too pressed for time, but what to offer your guests something to munch on, an easy antipasto always does the trick for me and this caprese-inspired one shaped like a candy cane brings in all the holiday vibes!
