Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog mini-series titled, "Crescent City Chronicles," inspired by my recent trip to the famous city of New Orleans. Now if you're a little late to the party...One of the biggest draws to this city is it's wonderful food full of vibrant flavors. So, its like culinary heaven for a foodie like myself! So many of their famous dishes are highlighted with so much flavor and nuanced with different kinds of creole spices & seasonings.

Now, in this blog post, we're gonna take a look at another BIG EZ food staple, otherwise known as the muffuletta sandwich, which is believed to have originated in 1906 at the New Orleans Central Grocery, by Salvatore Lupo, a Sicilian immigrant, who noticed many shoppers purchasing specific food items, which included muffuletta bread, cold cuts, cheese, & olive salad, all separately from one another other. So, he thought why not just combine all these ingredients??; His cleverness later coined a New Orleans signature sandwich - The Muffuletta Sandwich. Not only has it become a major food staple in New Orleans cuisine, but it also was & STILL IS widely popular during mardi gras celebrations. Watch me make it here.

Here's a quick snapshot of the ingredients I used; Full transparency...I went against the grain (pun not included, but I'll take it) of the actual muffuletta bread and opted for ciabatta bread instead because I do prefer the texture a bit better, but feel free to experiment w/hawaiian sliders or other breads of your choice.
