If you want a deep-dive synopsis of what this beautiful city has to offer then make sure to check out one of my latest blog posts where I write about my personal experience on what I did...where I went...where I ate...and where I stayed.
Now, in this blog post, we're gonna take a look at another BIG EZ food staple, otherwise known as the muffuletta sandwich, which is believed to have originated in 1906 at the New Orleans Central Grocery, by Salvatore Lupo, a Sicilian immigrant, who noticed many shoppers purchasing specific food items, which included muffuletta bread, cold cuts, cheese, & olive salad, all separately from one another other. So, he thought why not just combine all these ingredients??; His cleverness later coined a New Orleans signature sandwich - The Muffuletta Sandwich. Not only has it become a major food staple in New Orleans cuisine, but it also was & STILL IS widely popular during mardi gras celebrations. Watch me make it here.

"Muffuletta Sandwich"
Ingredients
-1 loaf of Muffuletta bread or Bread of choice (I’m using ciabatta bread)
-Olive salad (Disclaimer: I’m using store bought haha, but fee free to make it from scratch)
-1/3 lb Sliced Genoa salami -1/4 lb Sliced Coppa -1/2 lb Sliced Mortadella -1/2 lb Sliced Ham
-1/2 lb Sliced Provolone
-1/2 lb Sliced Mozzarella
Garnish

Directions
Step 1 - Slice bread in half & then slice in half. Then spread olive salad on both sides of bread.
Step 2 - Layer the bottom with coppa, then mortadella, then salami, provolone, ham, then mozzarella. Carefully flip the other side of the bread with the smeared olive spread over meat and cheese.
Step 3 - Refrigerate for 1-hour.
Step 4 - Toast in oven at appropriate setting to melt the cheese if you prefer a toasted sandwich like me!

Make sure to screenshot the ingredients for your next grocery run! Anddd share the story of this sandwich's origin when you make it for your guests at your next Mardi-gras-inspired get-together! Laissez les bon temps rouler! Cheers!
Until next time....
