"If you didn’t know one of my most favorite drinks of ALL TIME is the piña colada, and so when I discovered that the Miami Vice cocktail consisted of a combination of piña colada mixed with added strawberry daiquiri & TOPPED with dark rum, I said, “SAY LESS!"

So as previously mentioned, I love me some Miami y'all! And for me, palm trees + 95 degrees are the KEY ingredients to some lively & spirited Miami vibes & vices, and speaking of spirited…it’s only right, that I make the quintessential cocktail of which this mini-series is named after...The Miami Vice cocktail!

If you didn’t know one of my most favorite drinks of ALL TIME is the piña colada, and so when I discovered that the Miami Vice cocktail consisted of a combination of piña colada mixed with strawberry daiquiri, I said, “SAY LESS.” Cause if that doesn’t have my name written all over it, then I don’t know what does! So sit tight while we indulge in some Miami fun with the famous drink known as Miami Vice. Read on!

The exact origin of the Miami Vice cocktail is unknown, however many automatically assume that it originated in relation to the popular 80s hit tv show, Miami Vice, which was based in South Beach, Miami, & centered around the misbehaviors, scenarios, & dealings, involving vice-cops. The show incorporated trendy fashion & music, along w/posh Miami-culture. But the truth is, that the drink had already been proliferated in the nightclubs & beach bar scene prior to the show airing, however the cocktail was often associated w/the show, which boosted its popularity in a major way.
