Ahhh (!!!) another year down for the books! My birthday is this week y'all and I'm just reeling at how I used to make it a super BIG deal. Actually, I still kind-of do haha (!!!), but in a different, more unique, way.

In the past, I used to ALWAYS have to do something for my birthday. For example, dinner with family & friends, a party (it's only appropriate for the Event Designer & Planner after-all). Point is, it always had to be SOMETHING. But, these past few years...I've just wanted PEACE. A peaceful, stay-at-home and do nothing, kind-of-day. But I still kind-of wanna be spoiled by my loved ones, if that makes sense...Now THAT part hasn't changed haha. And, I'll take it for as long as I can <3.

Anyway enough of my rambling...This year, I went and looked at a series of the actual 72 questions that Vogue composes, and well...A lot of the questions did not apply to me because, again, I'm no celebrity haha (thank God!!), but I did do my best in creating alternative versions of similar questions. Fair warning...A few of my answers are pretty blunt, hard-truths. I promise that my intention was to keep it light-hearted, but maybe I gotta bit carried away haha!!

38 RANDOM "VOGUE STYLE" QUESTIONS

  1. If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be?  Stephanie: Complex. I'm like a jigsaw puzzle-Once you think you've got me all figured out, here comes the curve ball or the last few puzzle pieces that you either lost or can't figure out. But I think it makes things more fun & interesting that way haha.

  2. What seems to be a common misconception about you? Stephanie: Hmm...Maybe that I'm stuck up because I keep to myself a LOT, and I'm extremely private in spite of me sharing a lot of lifestyle content on my blog & social media platforms. I only say this based on what I've been told from a few people's perception of me, prior to actually meeting them. I'm often told "I thought you'd be mean when I met you" haha. I also have resting bitch face that I inherited from my Mama. Oh YES, anddd I'm a black woman, so I've come to realize that it largely comes with the territory of well...Being a black woman haha. There are stereotypical narratives that seem to denote that we're hostile & mean because that is often what is portrayed & projected onto us via the media. So I believe a lot of people misinterpret my "keeping to myself," as "She thinks she's all that," but no, REALLY, I just keep to myself A LOT cause I enjoy my peace & solitude, and I tend to distance myself from anyone or anything that jeopardizes that or gives me stress in any kind-of way. I think a lot of us can relate to growing up being too nice, and how that ultimately teaches you a lot of life lessons early-on & how to implement boundaries, which can often be misinterpreted as being conceited or pretentious. Especially, from the outside looking in. I definitely can be bougie at times though, so I'll never deny that or feel bad for how I am haha!!

  3. If you could go back in time and change one thing-What would it be? Stephanie: Truthfully, if I could go back in time...I would hold a few people more accountable for ish, as opposed to being passive and letting things slide...I don't let too many things slide anymore. This new boldness comes as quite a shock to some because she's a whole woman now who is gonna call people out on their ish when warranted, or cut contact altogether. Truth is, people know what they're doing. We're all adults here (at least that is the intent). And, if one is truly and completely oblivious of their actions that negatively impact you then perhaps we're not aligned to be in each other's lives after-all. I always say to protect your peace & energy at all costs. Aka I don't welcome gas-lighting.

  4. What's one thing you fear? Stephanie: Snakes-The literal animal; And figuratively, people.

  5. How do you feel right now? Stephanie: Right now, I feel good. I took the day off and I didn't do anything and I don't feel bad about it haha!! Sometimes we all need those days. I just happen to be writing this blog piece because I was bored. So even when your girl tries to be a lazy bum and do nada, I'm restless to get something done haha!!

  6. What’s your go-to cheat meal? Stephanie: Super easy-pizza. Still a fave!

  7. How would you describe your wardrobe style? Stephanie: Classy, conservative, chic, chill; Some of these adjectives are more highlighted on certain days than others; For the most part I'm rocking athleisure wear though (i.e. hoodie & leggings HA!!). But, I try to do it in a way where it still comes off "put together," if that makes sense... Ultimately though, you'll usually catch me dressed well or looking like a total bum, there's no in-between haha.

  8. What country did you last visit? Stephanie: Canada

  9. Favorite game to play for game night? Stephanie: Taboo

  10. Biggest life learning experience? Stephanie: Sometimes it doesn't matter how kind you are there are always going to be mofos that still hate you for just being YOU. Even without you ever uttering a word to them. You just got to not give a damn haha.

  11. What are you most excited about life right now? Stephanie: Travel, and future passion projects.

  12. Favorite music genre? Stephanie: Too many to name; I'm too eclectic. I like everything from classical music to hip hop to rock. But if I had to name what I play mostly...Its probably 90s hip hop & rnb. That seems to get the most airtime in my car.

  13. Favorite music icon? Stephanie: Michael Jackson

  14. Do you know any Fountain of Youth secrets? Stephanie: No secrets...Just exercise, eat healthy (I'd say, I somewhat eat healthy for considering myself a hardcore foodie haha), & invest in your skincare. I swear by Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair Serum to this day and I have been using it since I was 23 years old...So I think it is fair to say I like it a LOT. I've linked what I consider my "holy grail" skincare products & utilize almost daily here! Disclaimer: All these things have to work in tandem with one another though...The exercise, nutrition, drinking lots of water, etc.

  15. Any special projects that you currently got going on? Stephanie: Yes, I'm super excited! I have some great ideas that I can't wait to showcase to y'all in my IG series "Curated Cocktails, Cuisine, & Culture." I can't wait to get it out to y'all when the time is right. Soon come!

  16. What have you eaten today?

Stephanie: Breakfast: I had 2 clementines; I meant to eat a banana and then spread the clementines out over a few hours, but my banana was too mushy and I can't do mushy bananas haha. Lunch: I had a Mediterranean shrimp salad. Dinner: I was suppose to have another salad, but I opted for cooked sardines & a roasted sweet potato instead.

  17. What is your go-to healthy meal?

    Stephanie: Mediterranean grilled shrimp salad.

  18. What is a meal that you cook very well?

    Stephanie: Butternut Squash Lasagna

  19. What kind-of phone do you have?

Stephanie: I had to look it up to get it correct haha; It's the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. Funny, I used to care about that stuff. All I care about now is that it is a droid phone (Yes, I'm a Android user (green bubbles & all) and I don't care what anyone has to say about it haha) that works well and allows me to easily multitask.

  20. What is your favorite U.S. city?

Stephanie: Miami (L.A. is a very close 2nd, but Miami takes the cake for sure)

  21. What is your favorite holiday?

    Stephanie: Christmas

  22. What is your favorite season?

    Stephanie: Summer

  23. Would you live anywhere besides the east coast?

Stephanie: Yes, the west coast ha; Kind-of always wanted to be bicoastal.

  24. Would you live outside the country?

Stephanie: If you mean would I have a third home living abroad, absolutely! Where? I don't know...Probably somewhere on a tropical island or Paris.

  25. What is your favorite dessert?

Stephanie: Ooohh... that's super hard I can narrow it down to two...Brownies & red velvet cake. By the way, I am a Libra rising, so that might explain why I've aways been so damn indecisive haha.

  26. What is your least favorite food?

Stephanie: Probably cauliflower. To me, it's like a boring version of broccoli. But I'll still eat it though hehe.

  27. What is your favorite condiment?

Stephanie: I was going to say ketchup, but there's this spicy sriracha/mayo aioli sauce that I buy from Hellman's...It's sooo good on everything so that's my favorite haha!!

  28. It's brunch...What are you getting?

Stephanie: Most likely, chicken and waffles, but I have to say, that no one's chicken waffles has topped Roscoe's chicken and waffles in Cali. I've been on the hunt for one that is just as good in NY or even NJ, but have NOT found one! So if anyone knows of a place then please share the tea! I'm also a total sucker for french toast alongside eggs done "over easy," but medium-hard instead of "easy" haha.

  29. Favorite superhero?

Stephanie: Okay here's another one where I have to give two answers. First, I'll say Storm, because she really represented for the sistas back in the 90s, and that meant EVERYTHING to me as a little black girl growing up; And, two, Mystique she might not be considered a "superhero" to many, but I love how she looked so different, but still beautiful. I admire her fearless attitude and the way she kicks butt! By the way, this is from X-Men in case anyone was wondering haha.

  30. What do you usually order at Starbucks?

Stephanie: I'm kind-of super sensitive to caffeine so I really shouldn't be at Starbucks like that...BUT when I do go-It's always a small matcha latte with almond milk, and preferably lavender-flavored, if in season.

  31. Who was the last person you texted?

    Stephanie: My brother

  32. Vine or Youtube?

Stephanie: Didn't know Vine was even still a thing, but 1000% YouTube. Kind-of obsessed.

  33. Your go-to Chinese order?

Stephanie: Nowadays, chicken with broccoli; But, in the past, when I was way more reckless with what I ate...Boneless ribs with pork fried rice or fried green plantains. That ish is still fire though. I just can't have it more than like 1-2 times a year haha.

  34. Do you prefer Saturday nights or Sunday mornings... I feel like the younger Steph would have always said Saturday nights but the older Steph is appreciating the Sunday mornings; But I'mma still have to go with Saturday nights because I can sleep in on Sunday mornings now haha.

  35. What's the worst injury you've ever had?

Stephanie: The time I cut my thumb with an exacto knife back while working on a school project at FIT. Ugh, that was terrible. My dad wouldn't even look at it, nor would the security guard who escorted me to the nurse. She almost passed out haha!

  36. What makes you a typical Taurus?

Stephanie: I'd have to say my steadfast nature...The fact that I loveee to sleep; I love to eat, and I, humbly, think that I'm just an overall chill person haha. I think Taureans be some of the dopest people.

  37. What item besides your cell phone is always in your purse?

Stephanie: Hand sanitizer your girl's not going anywhere without it.

  38. What are you doing for your birthday this year?

Stephanie: I'll be out of town! Hint hint...To a fun exciting U.S. city with good food! Check out my IG stories for all the tea & shenanigans & to vote where you think I'll be!
